Forget, if you can, the Russian scandal and Zika and pollution and muggers getting shot if you can and you will and hope that for the next 17 days we are talking about all the glories sport at the Olympic Games provides. We Britain have been very spoiled over the last two Olympics, first in Beijing and especially at our home Games in London. Normally there isn’t much life after the Lord Mayor’s show but I suspect in this case there is. Step forward our fabulous athletes – Jess Ennis, KJT, Mo Farah, Greg Rutherford and many others looking for gold or at least a medal. Step forward our cyclists – Laura Trott, Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome, Mark Cavendish and all the others expecting to be standing on the velodrome podium. Ditto our swimmers, headed by Adam Peaty, our gymnasts by Max Whitkirk, our equestrian athletes led by Charlotte Dujardin, our rowers by Glover and Stanning and all our other stand out athletes – Nicola Adams, Andy Murray, Tom Daley, Giles Scott and so many more. With a team including this lot plus plenty more Team GB should be set for another incredible Games. Good luck to them all. This is the culmination of four years of dedication and passion, on wages which are in general a pittance compared to our over – inflated footballers. So, go well Team GB and make this a Games to be remembered for all the right reasons.
